Building Application
DPAP is an organization comprised of professionals, national and international, who are experts in paint restoration and decorative finishes. Our mission is to revive and restore public buildings with decorative painting of all types. If you are seeking restoration or a completely new design we offer a unique program that benefits you in saving on labor costs, and benefits eager apprentices who seek training in the decorative arts. For the cost of materials and staging, you help pave the way for our apprentice's professional training while achieving the dramatic transformation of your building.

DPAP reviews building applications often to select the location of future projects. Authorized parties are encouraged to apply. Only buildings that have public access are eligible, for example, libraries, theaters and courthouses. No private residences will be considered. We will be in touch.

If your building is selected, a design team will be assembled, a plan created and with your approval, work will begin. Master artisans will be invited to teach and classes will be advertised.

Our group of artisans will teach and supervise the apprentices in the skills required to be competent in our trade. We keep the work groups at a minimum and return the building to a functioning area as required. Allowing DPAP to teach various techniques in your building not only gives the apprentice "on the wall" experience, it offers you an affordable alternative for restoration or new decorative painting in your building. We offer a wealth of experience in the process of creating new design schemes, or we will interface with your designer in order to create a program tailored to your specific needs.

How it works
  • We normally require 3-4 months lead time to schedule instructors for your particular building and for marketing.
  • Currently we require the building owner to finance materials used in the finishes (paint, plaster, gold, etc.)
  • If scaffolding or "decking" is required, this is also the building owners' responsibility. We bring all the rest!
  • Because people travel to participate in our apprenticeship program, hotels and eateries close to the site are very important. Ideally, both the hotels and food establishments will "work" with us price-wise to accommodate the crews. Projects can last months. Crews rotate weekly along with instructors.
  • Work is not always done every week.
  • We try to schedule to get the project completed as quickly as possible.
If you are interested in being part of this program, we need a little information about your building.

PLEASE PRINT AND RETURN THIS FORM or e-mail your answers back to us.

Thank you. Marlow DeMars, Brita DeMars, Bernadette Forese.
