General Information About Classes

LEARN FAUX FINISHING & DECORATIVE PAINTING from artisan professionals while restoring or reviving a public space. Students, novice through advanced, are welcome to take classes.

DPAP selects several projects a year at different locations in the U.S.; assembles the best teachers; and invites students to participate in classes for a small fee. Students work closely with teachers to execute the design plan for the space.

Each student trains on sample boards first. Once skills are perfected, the student works closely with teachers on actual walls, ceilings and columns. Teachers are vigilant to maintain consistent quality of work, as well as blending separate decorative techniques into one unified design scheme.

  • Students are trained by experienced professionals to work full scale, on site, gaining confidence to take on larger projects;
  • Teachers are offered unique and creative forums in which to share their knowledge;
  • The host building gets a makeover or a restoration for the cost of paint and supplies; and.
  • All participants benefit from the creativity and passion of the group gathered together to complete one project.
Classes may include, and are not limited to:
  • Glazing
  • Gold Leafing
  • Italian Plasters
  • Architectural Trompe L'Oeil
  • Stenciling
  • Wood Graining
  • Marbling
  • Silk Plaster
