Classes
LEARN FAUX FINISHING & DECORATIVE PAINTING from artisan professionals while restoring or reviving a space. Members, novice through advanced, are welcome to take classes.
Since there are always new products on the market and new techniques for using existing products, DPAP includes all of these things in a project in an attempt to give each student something that will enhance their personal and professional goals.
DPAP selects several projects a year at different locations in the U.S.; assembles the best teachers; and invites members to participate
in classes for a small fee. Students work closely with teachers to execute the design plan for the space.
If members have their own insurance, then they are paid a stipend while working on the project. If members do not have their own insurance, then they are charged a fee to attend the class.
Each student trains on sample boards first. Once skills are perfected, the student works closely with teachers on actual walls, ceilings and columns. Teachers are vigilant to maintain consistent quality of work, as well as blending separate decorative techniques into one unified design scheme.
Classes may include, and are not limited to:
- Glazing & Troweling
- Gilding
- Venetian Plasters
- Architectural Trompe L'Oeil
- Stenciling
- Wood Graining
- Marbling
- Metallic Plasters
- Sky Painting
- Lathe and Plaster Restoration
- Air Brushing
- Mural Painting
- Canvas Installation
- Proper Surface Preparation
DPAP makes arrangements with facilities near the project site to provide students with lodging discounts. These details vary with each project and are typically announced when projects are announced.
